April 12-15, 2025: Hypertherm Associates to Showcase Plasma Cutting Technology at CastExpo 2025

Hypertherm Associates, a U.S.-based manufacturer of industrial cutting systems and software, will showcase its Powermax line of professional-grade plasma systems and technology in booth #1110 at the American Foundry Society’s (AFS) CastExpo & Metalcasting Congress, April 12-15, 2025 in Atlanta, GA.

With manual and automated metal cutting and gouging capabilities, Hypertherm Powermax plasma machines are emerging as an essential tool for foundries to achieve safe and efficient cast trimming and degating processes.

Visitors to the Hypertherm booth at CastExpo 2025 will experience firsthand how the Hypertherm Powermax105 SYNC  plasma cutter reduces injuries, removes extra steps, conserves energy and saves time compared to traditional cast trimming methods. Available with handheld manual operation options, the Powermax SYNC series also integrates easily with robotic cells, which is ideal for the foundry setting. Hypertherm Associates representatives will have parts that have been processed with Powermax  on hand at the booth for attendees to examine the high cut quality the series delivers.

In addition to participating as an exhibitor, Garen Cakmak, Hypertherm Associates Director of Business Development and Product Management, will be a featured speaker as part of the professional development curriculum offered to CastExpo 2025 attendees. Developed to match the AFS mission to advance the success of its members and industry through advocacy, education, and innovation, Cakmak’s presentation will explain the science behind plasma cutting, its impact on various metals, and its benefits over traditional degating methods.

“When you consider that foundries existed centuries before the industrial revolution, two things are very clear,” Cakmak said. “First, foundries play a central role in our economy, and second, their adaptability to new technologies has been and will continue to be crucial to the manufacturing ecosystem.”

Cakmak’s knowledge-sharing session titled “Automated Plasma Degating Technology for Foundries” will dig deep into the role of robotics and the growth of cobots and industrial robots in plasma applications. Additionally, Cakmak will demonstrate how ease of entry into robotics has evolved, making it accessible and vital to foundry operations. Finally, Cakmak will address gate design, the capabilities of plasma technology, and future trends such as the integration of vision systems into robotics.
