Mazak has extended its Mazak SYNCREX Series of Swiss-style machines with the SYNCREX 12/8. The Kentucky-designed and -built 8-axis machine handles a maximum turning diameter of 0.4724" (12 mm).
For heightened accuracy and reduced material waste, the SYNCREX 12/8 uses a single-motor ball spline drive. The 15,000-RPM main spindle further contributes to accuracy as well as material waste reduction while the variable vibration cut system provides stable, repeatable performance.
In its standard configuration, the machine accommodates up to 24 tools-16 static and 8 live. The exclusive Mazak Auto Tool Setter checks, measures and sets up tools to optimize the process, enabling shops to reduce set-up times from days to hours to regain valuable cut time, the company reported.
The sliding-headstock machine uses a high-rigidity base casting that creates greater stability, reduced vibration and lower thermal distortion for increased tool life, enhanced part quality and better surface finishes. The optional MT Tablet, dual-screen system with a shop's choice of either Autodesk-PartMaker or ESPRIT CAD/CAM software helps to further reduce set-up times and increase production.
The SYNCREX 12/8 uses the MAZATROL SmoothSt CNC with 15" touch panel. The control incorporates Mazak's Swiss Setup Assist (MSSA) for fast and easy job set-ups and Mazak Dynamic Chip Control (MDCC) functionality. For further ease of use, the MAZATROL SmoothSt CNC functions include tool touch off, part cut off, retract point and start position. MAZATROL SmoothSt also allows for synchronous control of all axes, including the ability to simultaneously turn and drill along with rigid tapping with all spindles.
