Clutch/Brake Press Control, Shadow Light Curtain Update

Wintriss will introduce the new WPC APEX Clutch/Brake Control at FABTECH.

Wintriss Controls Group has announced it will be releasing the new WPC APEX Clutch/Brake Control and introducing the Shadow 10 Light Curtain, the latest update to its presence sensing safety devices for presses, at FABTECH booth D41120.

Wintriss will also be emphasizing easier ways for fabricators and metal formers to leverage the benefits of its ShopFloorConnect Data Collection Software via flexible and affordable subscription packages.

At the booth, Wintriss will be demonstrating the new WPC APEX Clutch/Brake Control for mechanical power presses. The WPC APEX is a full featured control with an easy-to-use touchscreen display, tool number memory and four dedicated die protection inputs. The WPC APEX also features detailed self-diagnostics and has inputs for up to four operator stations and up to four Shadow Light Curtains. The WPC APEX features many additional interlocks, including cross-checked pairs and stroke mode specific types, as well as five individual I-stop and E-stop button inputs.

"The new Shadow 10 Light Curtain will also be displayed. The Shadow Light Curtain Series has been a proven safety solution in the industry, withstanding the rigors of pressrooms for nearly 50 years," said a company spokesperson. "Its rugged design with an IP65 rated housing to protect from harsh ambient stamping environments and reliable operation are well-reputed among metalforming professionals."

The CSA-certified Shadow 10 control box has inputs for up to four transmitter/receiver pairs. A control box is not necessary if the Shadow 10 is connected to the Wintriss WPC family of controls. Shadow 10 is designed with high levels of redundancy and fault tolerance, meeting Category 4 safety standards to help ensure reliable protection. Shadow 10 has diagnostics LEDs, comprehensive yet easy-to-use blanking and other reliability features specifically designed for metal stamping applications.

Wintriss will also demonstrate its ShopFloorConnect Production Tracking Software, which focuses on machine efficiency and OEE.

"Unlike other subscription-based data collection software, ShopFloorConnect is an on-premises solution where you own your data as soon as you collect it, forever," said the spokesperson. Customers can choose several levels of subscription packages. The software is also offered in a perpetual licensing model.

There are also multiple hardware interface options for any ShopFloorConnect set-up, including the SmartPAC family of press automation controls, the ShopFloorConnect Machine Interface (SMI 2) and the newly introduced Tracker Device for collecting production data from virtually any machine.

In addition to Wintriss's booth presence at the show, Industry Die Protection expert Jim Finnerty of Wintriss will be presenting "50 Tips for Better Die Protection" Conference Session S09 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM on Tuesday, September 9. Finnerty created the Wintriss Die Protection Clinic for die protection and in-die sensing information and training, which he has led for over 25 years. Finnerty will also be available for consultation in the Wintriss booth before and after the presentation.
