Energy, Aerospace Production Take Center Stage at MAZAK Southwest Event

Mazak will highlight its extensive range of machine tool technology and automation that boosts production and profitability for manufacturers in the oil & gas and aerospace industry sectors during the company's two-day DISCOVER MORE WITH MAZAK Southwest Open House event. Taking place June 18 and 19 at the Mazak Southwest Technology Center in Houston, TX, the event will help manufacturers in those sectors and the job shops that support them learn more, do more and make more with innovative technology and expert applications support from Mazak.

From 9 AM to 4 PM each day, attendees will experience live real-world cutting demonstrations, lectures and a variety of automation, technology and application displays. Mazak will spotlight its full 5-axis and DONE IN ONE Multi-Tasking along with CNC horizontal, vertical and turning machine technologies.

For 5-axis multisided machining of complex 3D curved surfaces, the event will feature Mazak's VARIAXIS i-800 NEO with a two-pallet changer and the VC-Ez 16X. The VARIAXIS i-800 NEO is Mazak's next generation full 5-axis VMC, providing advanced multisurface machining for parts with complex profiled surfaces.

Attendees will see the VARIAXIS i-800 NEO with a 7,000-RPM high-torque spindle machining a stainless steel impeller. The Kentucky-built VC-Ez 16X VMC that provides cost-effective long-term part processing reliability will demonstrate its ability to machine medical-related 5-axis parts. In addition to its affordability, the VC-Ez 16X is optimized for simple operation and long-term reliability.

For accurate machining and productivity, Mazak's INTEGREX i-500S advanced Multi-Tasking machine features a second turning spindle and combines the functions and capabilities of a CNC turning center with those of a milling machine. A variety of bed lengths, tailstocks and spindle options allow shops to optimize the machine for production in all industry sectors. At the Southwest event, the INTEGREX i-500S will cut a feature-rich oil industry component involving the use of a large drill. From the Mazak Ez Series, the QT-Ez 10MY turning machine featuring milling and Y-axis off-centerline capability will be paired with Mazak's Ez LOADER COBOT automation for added performance and value in a compact design.

Mazak will also showcase its HCN-5000 NEO paired with the company's MULTI PALLET POOL (MPP) automation for part processing within a minimal amount of floor space. The machine represents Mazak's next generation of HMCs for high productivity in a diverse range of applications from high-volume to mixed-part processing and will be machining an aluminum electrical housing.

Oil & gas shop attendees to the Mazak Southwest event will also experience the SLANT TURN 550M heavy-duty CNC turning center for machining of large, long shaft workpieces. Ideally suited to the oil & gas sector, the SLANT TURN 550M can handle diameters up to 35.83" and perform high-efficiency machining with full power even at low-speed ranges. During the event, the SLANT TURN 550M will perform oil industry related threading and heavy turning passes on a large steel workpiece.

The Southwest Technology Center, located at 10950 Greenbend Blvd. in Houston, TX, is one of eight Mazak Technology Centers in North America. The 30,000-sq.-ft. facility works closely with all industry segment manufacturers with a special focus on the energy sector. The center gives Mazak customers access to process and application engineering expertise, training and collaboration opportunities for new manufacturing solution development.

In addition to live machine demonstrations, attendees will gain insights from a variety of industry and applications experts. Lunch will also be served each day.

Every Mazak machine, including those at the DISCOVER MORE WITH MAZAK event, are backed by Mazak MPower Complete Customer Care. Plus, Mazak Capital Equipment Financing (MCEF) allows shops to easily move their manufacturing forward with one-stop, factory-direct financing on Mazak equipment.
